Welcome to Robins Class 

Welcome to Robins Class, home to our fantastic Year 1 and Year 2 children at Dodford First School.

Our class teacher is Miss Underhill, who helps to make our classroom a happy, caring and exciting place where every child feels safe, valued and ready to learn.

Learning in Robins Class

In Robins Class, we love to explore, discover and learn together. Our children enjoy a varied and engaging curriculum that helps them build strong foundations in reading, writing and maths while developing their knowledge and curiosity about the wider world.

Learning is brought to life through stories, practical activities, creative projects, investigations and opportunities to learn both inside and outside the classroom.

We encourage our children to ask questions, share their ideas and have a go, helping them to grow in confidence and become increasingly independent learners.

Reading and Phonics

Reading is an important part of life in Robins Class. We want every child to develop a love of books and stories and to become a happy, confident reader.

Through regular phonics teaching, shared stories and opportunities to read and talk about books, children continue to develop the skills they need to become fluent readers and enthusiastic writers.

Growing Together

Our classroom is a kind and welcoming place where we learn to work together, help one another and celebrate each other’s achievements.

Alongside their academic learning, children are encouraged to develop important qualities such as kindness, resilience, independence and respect. We celebrate effort and progress and help every child recognise just how much they can achieve.

Working with Families

We really value the partnership between home and school. By working together, we can help children feel confident, supported and excited about their learning.
